Oliver McCrum Wines has been importing small production Italian wine and distributing to fine retail and restaurant establishes throughout California since 1994. Over time, our portfolio of producers has steadily grown to over 45 producers from 15 different regions of Italy. We look for typical Italian wines with clarity and freshness, usually made from indigenous Italian grape varieties using clean, transparent winemaking techniques and no obvious use of oak.

Masseria Falvo - historic estate in Calabria

Michele Boscia

Join Oliver as he speaks with Ermanno and Gabriella from Masseria Falvo. The estate is located near Saracena in Calabria, and has been in the same family since 1727. Gabriella works in the cellar, while Emmano helps manage the vineyards. We are thrilled to add this historical estate to our portfolio!

Introducing Sei Mila Metri Quadri Botanical Spirits!

Michele Boscia

Join our National Spirits Manager, David Curiel, as he discusses one of our newest spirit producers, Sei Mila Metri Quadri. The label is a tribute to the producer’s father, and the name refers to the size of his garden back in Puglia, six thousand square meters. David will tell the story of the family, and why pink peppercorns are the star of the spirits.

All new from Fred Cremasco: Fred Alkemil!

Michele Boscia

We’ve been, uh, “tasting” four new spirits from Fred and we can’t seem to stop. Each is so lip-smackingly good - there’s Cherry Ratafia, Creme di Cassis, Alchermes and Bergamotto Rosolio. Check out the video and get yourself a bottle or two.

Milo + Maugeri = unparalleled Etna Bianco

Michele Boscia

We’re over the moon (or the volcano, rather) to be working with the wines from the Maugeri family in the village of Milo on the east face of Mt. Etna. Milo is the only place that can produce wines with the classification of Etna Bianco Superiore. Pour yourself a glass and enjoy getting to know the Maugeri family and the gorgeous views and vineyards.

Liquore delle Sirene - Guided Tasting & Release of Americano Rosso Aperitivo

Michele Boscia

It’s always a pleasure to speak with Elisa Carta, creator of Liquore delle Sirene all natural spirits from Lake Garda. Today, she told us all about how she makes her new Americano Rosso Aperitivo; delicious on it’s own but even better as a spritz. She guided through a tasting of all three of her spirits and we learned about the major botanicals that make them so special.

All About Alto Adige - with The Gang of Four

Michele Boscia

No, this is not the title of a Sherlock Holmes story, these four producers (Baron Widmann, Franz Gojer, Niedrist and Kuenhof) are known as four of the best in the region and they are great friends as well. It was so exciting to hear from them about what makes their vineyards and wines so special.

Vineyard Tour & Origin Story - Lucca Gungui of Berteru

Michele Boscia

Lucca is the newest addition to our collection of Sardegnian producers and most of us haven’t yet been able to visit him and it was wonderful to be able to meet him and hear his story via ZOOM. Check it out to hear the story of how Chateauneuf du Pepe inspired him to create one of Sardegnia’s highest quality fine wine productions of the Cannonau grape.

Wine Tour with Giuseppe Rosso of Girolamo Russo

Michele Boscia

It was such a pleasure to hear Giuseppe speak to us about Etna and specifically his calderas (sort of equivalent to a cru and specific to Mt. Etna). He released a few new wines to us this year and it was so helpful to hear more details on what make these wines so special.

Wine Tour with Maurizio Anfosso of Ka Mancine

Michele Boscia

It was so exciting to get to see one of the very few producers that most of staff has not yet visited. The wines of Ka Mancine are enigmatic and enchanting and today we learned why. To start, the vineyards are practically inaccessible due to their position as some of the highest in the appellation, near the seacliffs of the Ligurian coast. It takes three times as much labor (read: costs three times as much) to produce these wines as it does to produce Brunello di Montalcino and they are a fraction of the price of Brunello. I’d rather drink Ka Mancine’s Rossese di Dolceacqua over Brunello any day of the week!

Wine Tour with Luca Baccarelli of Roccafiore

Michele Boscia

The quietly passionate and intelligent Luca Baccarelli showed us around their beautiful vineyards and taught us that there are two very different types of Grechetto (Roccafiore uses the higher quality, more complex one). We also got a tour of the cellar and heard the story of Luca’s transformation into the innovative winemaker of this beautiful Umbrian estate.

Wine Tour with Riccardo Baldi of La Staffa

Michele Boscia

It’s always a treat to spend time with the charismatic Riccardo Baldi (helping more people drink delcious Verdicchio since 2010). We learned today that there are actual castles in the Castelli dei Jesi! Riccardo iIllustrated this with some great maps and helped us to better understand the terroir here and how it’s different from Verdicchio di Matelica.

Wine Tour with Mario Zanusso of I Clivi

Michele Boscia

We were transported by our experience with Mario - seeing the vineyards, hearing him speak so eloquently about philosophies of viticulture and wine that we hold near and dear to our hearts. Inspiring, really. Even in the midst of the changed world we live, vines go on growing as they have for centuries and Mario carries on the traditions of his father to produce wines of exceptional transparency and clarity. Those things that are still the same are so comforting in these times. Pop open a bottle of i Clivi and hit play.
