A few years ago we had a terrible selection of rosés, nothing interesting at all. Now I'm having trouble deciding what to put in the 'fridge for the evening pizza: Nebbiolo rosato from northern Piedmont (Le Pianelle and Cantalupo)? Bardolino Rosato from Le Fraghe? Stellar Sangiovese rosato from Angela Fronti at Istine? Too many good choices, and some of them haven't even arrived yet: Giuseppe Russo's Nerello Mascalese Rosato from Etna is terrific, look for it in July. All of these wines work as aperitifs, and they'll go straight through many summer meals, too.
